Program Description

The Department of Classical and Modern Languages and Literatures represents the diversity of human cultural achievements and experiences through the development of international language skills. The Department of Classical and Modern Languages and Literature’s vision is to achieve national recognition of excellence and performance in scholarship through teaching, research, and service. We will be a national leader in producing teachers of classical and modern languages, literatures, and cultures. We will cultivate linguistic proficiency, the effective use of technology in language learning, inspire critical thinking and a deep understanding of diversity, and foster the participation of students in a global society. The Department of Classical & Modern Languages & Literatures is a gateway to languages and cultures from across the globe. We offer instruction in many languages and offer exciting opportunities to study abroad. The Department of Classical and Modern Languages and Literatures offers students the possibility of earning a MA in Languages and Cultures in Applied Linguistics, Classics, and German.

For domestic applicants, there is no specific Graduate Admissions deadline, although we encourage domestic applicants to apply at least three (3) months in advance of the semester to which they want to apply.

How To Apply

1) Apply to Graduate School : Fill out the online application at Apply Texas.

2) Pay your application fee: $60 initial application fee, $50 for each subsequent application (including changes of entry date, add/change program, or readmission). Application fees may be paid via ApplyTexas at the time of application submission or by credit card on our website.

3) Contact the Graduate Program Coordinator in your prospective department. Many departments have separate application requirements and deadlines, and the Graduate Program Coordinator will be able to assist you in your application process.

4) Send application requirements, from all of the colleges and universities that you have attended to Texas Tech University Graduate School.
