Program Description

The interdisciplinary Ph.D. degree program in Land-Use Planning, Management, and Design accepts students from diverse educational backgrounds. Students with interests in architecture, community planning and design, historic preservation, environmental/natural-resource planning and management, public-policy administration, and many other aspects of land use may find the program suitable to their needs.

Letters of Recommendation required: 3

Recommendation Letter Instructions: Three letters of recommendation on official letterhead from educators and/or professors and/or professionals should be submitted to lori.rodriguez@ttu.edu.

Resume Required: Yes

Writing Samples Required: Yes

Writing Sample Instructions: A 2-3 page statement of your career goals and research interests and a sample of research writing (max 5000 words). This may be a research paper including citations, bibliography and footnotes.

Departmental Application Required: Yes

Departmental Application Instructions: There are two steps in applying for the Interdisciplinary PhD program in Land Use Planning, Management, and Design (LPMD) Graduate Programs. Complete the Graduate School application Complete the College of Architecture Graduate Application form (PDF) and submit the application requirements listed on page 3.

How To Apply


1) Apply to Graduate School : Fill out the online application at Apply Texas.

2) Pay your application fee: $60 initial application fee, $50 for each subsequent application (including changes of entry date, add/change program, or readmission). Application fees may be paid via ApplyTexas at the time of application submission or by credit card on our website.

3) Contact the Graduate Program Coordinator in your prospective department. Many departments have separate application requirements and deadlines, and the Graduate Program Coordinator will be able to assist you in your application process.

4) Send application requirements, from all of the colleges and universities that you have attended to Texas Tech University Graduate School.
