Now What?
The Graduate School at Texas Tech University is proud to welcome you into our select group of scholars! Here are some helpful hints as you begin your journey with us.
Registration:
- New domestic graduate students, you are eligible for pre-registration. You may register through your academic department or online at TECHSIS. A PIN number is required to register online, and you will find this number in your acceptance packet.
- New international graduate students cannot register for classes until they complete the check-in and orientation requirements for the Office of International Student and Scholar Services.
Tuition/Fee Payment:
- There are several different payment options to make paying tuition as simple and
convenient as possible. You can:
- Use a credit card or check to pay online;
- Pay with a check or money order by mail;
- Utilize a third-party payer;
- Or make payment arrangements.

I.D. Card:
- You may get your student I.D. card in Room 104 of the Student Union Building. The ID Office telephone number is 806-742-1457. You will need your I.D. card to check out library books, to reserve rooms or study carrels, for admission into athletic events and other campus activities, to cash checks on campus, and for other purposes.
Housing:
- As a graduate student, you may request assignment to any of the 17 residence halls on campus. The Housing and Dining Services office is located in Room 106 of Doak Hall. They may be contacted by phone at 806-742-2661 or by email at housing@ttu.edu. Graduate on-campus housing fills quickly, so apply as early as possible.
- The Student Government Association publishes an off-campus housing guide for students. They may be reached at 806-742-3631 and are located on the third floor of the Student Union Building.
- Other off-campus housing information may be found at http://www.lubbockhospitality.net/apartments/ or at http://www.lubbockapartments.com/.
Financial Aid:
- The Office of Student Financial Aid is located in Room 301 of West Hall and may be reached by telephone at 806-742-3681 or by email at finaid.advisor@ttu.edu.
- You may apply online for scholarships and fellowships through the Graduate School at http://www.depts.ttu.edu/gradschool/scholarships/.
- Contact your academic department for information about teaching, research and graduate assistantships, if you have not done so already. The Graduate School does not award teaching and/or research assistantships.
Parking and Transportation:
- You must purchase a permit from University Parking Services if you plan to park on campus. That office may be reached by telephone at 806-742-3811 or by email at parking@ttu.edu. Their website is located at http://www.parking.ttu.edu/.
- On-campus bus service is provided by Citibus and makes a variety of stops around campus. This service is provided by the transportation fee you pay each semester. In addition, Citibus has routes that run all over the city of Lubbock. Students with valid TTU ID cards can ride Citibus' off-campus routes for free.
