Meet Dean Hartmeister

Fred Hartmeister became Dean of the Graduate School at Texas Tech University August 1, 2007. He holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from Valparaiso University, an M.B.A. (Business Administration) from the University of Denver, an Ed.D. in Educational Administration from the University of Wyoming, and a J.D. (Law) from the University of Wyoming. He became a faculty member at Texas Tech in 1993. Prior to that, he was a teacher and school principal in Colorado. He also held a managerial role in a private sector wholesale business. He returned to academia to obtain his doctoral and law degrees, after which he served as a law clerk for the Chief Justice of the Wyoming Supreme Court. During his tenure at Texas Tech he has been a faculty member in the Educational Leadership program in the College of Education and, via a joint appointment in the School of Law, also taught classes there. He has held administrative positions in the College of Education including Chair for Educational Psychology and Leadership Department and Associate Dean for Graduate Education and Research. Dr. Hartmeister's research interests include various aspects of educational law for school administrators and attorneys. To date he has authored more than 275 publications which include numerous books, monographs, book chapters and refereed journal articles. His research has been widely cited, with references in national and international professional journals, books, newspapers, law reviews, and state supreme court judicial opinions. |
