Configuring Macintosh Panther (10.3) and Tiger (10.4) VPN Clients
Please print out these instructions and follow the steps on your computer.
Step 1: Verify that your TTU Windows Domain Account is Active:
- Go to
http://www.eRaider.ttu.edu and log in using your eRaider username and
password.
- Click on the Manager your eRaider Account link.
- Under the eRaider Account Manager banner, there will be a section
on the right titled Windows Domain Account. In this section,
verify that you have an entry named TTU.EDU - Active that has a small
bright green circle next to it. If you do, your Windows Domain Account
is active and you can proceed to the next section.
- If you see a small dark green circle and an entry named TTU.EDU -
Inactive instead, you will need to activate your domain account before
continuing. To do this, click on the entry named TTU.EDU - Inactive.
This will bring up a new screen that should allow you to activate your
domain account. Follow the instructions presented on the screen to
activate your domain account.
- Once you have followed the instructions on the screen, click on the General Information button on the left and verify that your account is now showing up as TTU.EDU - Active with a small bright green circle next to it in the Windows Domain Account section on the right side of the page.
Step 2: Install and configure your VPN client:
NOTE: PLEASE DO NOT MAKE ANY OTHER CHANGES TO YOUR CONFIGURATION THAN THOSE SPECIFIED IN THESE INSTRUCTIONS.
How to Setup a New VPN Connection
| Step 1: Go to the Applications folder by opening your Macintosh HD and clicking on the Applications icon. |

| Step 2: Open the Internet Connect application by clicking on it. |

| Step 3: The Internet Connect window will now open. Click on the VPN (PPTP) icon at the top of the window to open the VPN configuration page. You should now see the blank VPN connection screen. |

| Step 4: In the Server address: field, enter vpn.ttu.edu. In the Account Name: field, enter your eRaider username. In the Password: field, enter your eRaider password. Once you have done this, completely exit out of Internet Connect. |

| Step 5: You now need to completely exit out of Internet Connect. When you do this, you will be prompted to save your VPN configuration. Type TTUNet VPN into the text box and click on the Save button. |

| Step 6: You have now created your VPN
configuration. To connect simply Launch Internet Connect by
going to your Macintosh HD, Applications,
and then click on Internet Connect. Once the Internet Connect window has opened, your TTUNet VPN connection should be selected by default. If it is not automatically selected, click on the VPN (PPTP) icon at the top of the screen and then select TTUNet VPN from the Configuration: drop down list. Once this is done, simply enter your eRaider username and password and press the connect button and you will be connected to your TTUNet VPN. |

How to Use a Previously Created VPN Connection:

- Go to the Applications
folder by opening your Macintosh HD and clicking on the
Applications icon.
- Now hold down the Control key
and single-click on Internet Connect. In the menu
that appears, click on Make Alias. A new alias/shortcut will be now
created. Type in TTUnet VPN and hit Return.
- Now simply drag the new alias/shortcut to your desktop.
To connect to the TTUnet VPN, simply
double-click on this new alias/shortcut and the Internet Connect window
should appear.
Once the Internet Connect window has opened, your TTUNet VPN connection should be selected by default.
If it is not automatically selected, click on the VPN (PPTP) icon at the top of the screen and then select TTUNet VPN from the Configuration: drop down list.
Once this is done, simply enter your eRaider username and password and press the connect button and you will be connected to your TTUNet VPN.
