TechMail
is the Information Technology Division's e-mail and collaborative messaging
service. By combining the best features of existing services into one
comprehensive offering, TechMail
is the next generation of enterprise messaging for Texas Tech University.
TechMail can be used both on and off
campus in a variety of different ways.
- The easiest and most efficient way is by using the
Exchange Servers on campus or with a VPN connection. Using the Exchange
Servers provides access to the full features of the TechMail
system such as sophisticated e-mail formatting for TTU enterprise
communications while maintaining Internet e-mail capabilities, contact
information management, personal calendaring allowing meetings between
individuals to be planned and organized online, and protection by state of the
art anti-virus software. This is the recommended method of connecting.
- Your email is also accessible by using an up-to-date
web browser for access on campus or around the world using the Microsoft
Outlook Web Access.
- The third method is by setting up a POP/IMAP client.
The use of a POP/IMAP client limits the functionality of the TechMail
service to simple e-mail capabilities.
