Mission Statement
“Providing leadership and support to young students and encouraging interest in science and nature discovery through active participation in valid research projects.”
Introduction
The Junior Scientist Mentoring Program is a collaboration of The Outdoor School and The Field Research Station which will provide elementary students with hands-on experiences with university-level graduate students. Mentors will present their current research projects to Outdoor Academy classes. Mentors and students will work closely to develop an appropriate research project for science classrooms once they have completed the Academy. Mentors will encourage, support, and provide valuable scientific advice to students to conduct classroom projects. |
