The History Graduate Student Organization (HGSO)

What is HGSO?

HGSO is an organization open to all graduate students in the department of history at Texas Tech University. The goal of HGSO is to give graduate students a more clear and defined voice within the history department; to create an all-inclusive organization, where all students affiliated with the department have a place to congregate and voice concerns (MA, PhD, funded and unfunded); to foster professional development among graduate students through workshops, seminars, colloquiums, and other developmental activities; to facilitate communication between the graduate students and the faculty; and to promote an atmosphere that will strengthen bonds between graduate history students, and that will help us complete our journey, as individuals and historians.

Who is a Member?

All currently enrolled graduate students in the Department of History are members of the organization and welcome to attend its events.
