Faculty
Over the years, our faculty has received not one, but two Paul Whitfield Horn Professorships (the highest ranking bestowed upon Texas Tech Faculty). Additionally, the department boasts multiple winners of such prestigious institutional awards as the Residence Life Students Professing Excellence Award, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Outstanding Researcher Award, the President’s Excellence in Teaching Award, the Hemphill-Wells New Faculty Teaching Award, Mortar Board’s Outstanding Faculty Award, and the Texas Tech Alumni Association’s New Faculty Award.
In addition to their contributions through the History Department, current faculty also serve or have served as the Senior Vice-Provost for Academic Affairs, Dean of the Honors College, Associate Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Faculty Senate President, Director of the Texas Tech Center for the Southwest, Executive Director of the Institute for Conflict, Diplomacy and Reconciliation, Director of the Center for War & Diplomacy in the Post-Vietnam Era, Director of the Vietnam Center and Archive, Executive Director of the Center for International Studies, and Director of Environmental Studies.
