The Honors College at Texas Tech University is one of the outstanding Honors Colleges in the United States. The primary mission of the Honors College is to provide an enriched learning experience for intellectually capable and curious undergraduate students. We strive to replicate a small-college learning environment in a large state university setting.

The Honors Program was housed in the College of Arts and Sciences from its inception in the mid-1960’s until 1993 when it was moved to the Office of the Provost. The Honors College was formed in 1999. Since that time the College has grown to include nearly 1000 students who represent majors from a broad cross section of undergraduate programs at Texas Tech University.

The Honors College offers enriched and stimulating courses that are designed to encourage critical thinking, broaden students’ education, and examine interdisciplinary and international perspectives of different disciplines. In addition, the Honors College supports undergraduate research, study-abroad, academic scholarships, and a variety of academic and social activities for enrolled students. The Freshman Year Experience courses offered each fall by the Honors College are designed to provide an introduction for new students to the Honors College and its courses and programs as well as to help incoming students adapt to university life in general and, specifically, to Texas Tech University. Early admission programs with the TTU School of Medicine and TTU School of Law offer our students a means to guarantee a place in medical or law school during their junior year.
