Alumna Discovers a Love for Teaching and Learning
Mary Klein graduated from the Texas Tech University Honors College in 2003 and from the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Pharmacy in 2007.
Mary Klein graduated from the Texas Tech University Honors College in 2003 and from the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Pharmacy in 2007. Following her graduation from the TTUHSC she completed an ambulatory care residency, and in 2008 she became a member of the faculty of the TTUHSC School of Pharmacy Abilene Campus.
Dr. Klein said, "In the morning, I work at the Presbyterian Medical Care Mission managing medications for diabetes and hypertension patients, and in the afternoon, I teach primarily laboratory courses in the Pharm.D. curriculum. It's a busy life, but I love getting to take care of patients and getting to teach as well.
When discussing her Honors College experience, Dr. Klein stated, "The Honors College opened the eyes of this small town girl to the world, to new adventures, and to a new way of learning. Honors taught me not to memorize but to THINK; not to accept the world at face value, but to explore it and change it. My Honors London-Paris study abroad experience was the one of the most memorable experiences of my life, and my Honors courses were always my favorites. The Honors faculty I interacted with over those 4 years made a large impact on the way I teach my Pharm.D. students today. I am proud to say that I was an Honors Ambassador, an HON Officer, and one of the first FYE Mentors. The Honors College is truly the premier program at our university, and I am proud to call myself an Honors College alum!"
