What is your favorite thing about Honors? The Honors courses, which
are not designed to be harder, just different. The 25-person cap
changes the dynamic of the class, and the students you learn
alongside usually have a genuine appreciation for the subject matter.
Every Honors professor I’ve had has done an outstanding job and
epitomized the mission of the Honors College.
Sarah Miller

Campus Involvement: Society for Conservation for Biology, Hillel, French Club, Tennis,
Honors Book Club, Honors Lunch Discussion
What is your favorite thing about Honors? I've had an end-of-the-year potluck at my
professor's house, ridden bikes with friends and professors from the college, attended
plays and concerts, and next spring I'm embarking on a ten day canoe trip with fellow
outdoor enthusiasts for the EVHM capstone class.
Saba Nafees

What is your favorite thing about Honors? For me, it is being a part of a

and friends who function together to help me flourish.
Jay Patel
Hometown: Plano, Texas
Major: Biology
Expected Graduation: May 2013
After graduation: I plan to enter medical school; I am
currently looking into the fields of Interventional
Cardiology, Radiation Oncology, Neurology, and
Emergency Medicine.
Campus Involvement: Eta Omicron Nu (HON), FYE/LCG
Mentor, Double T Health Service Corps, South Asian
Student Association, Honors Early Acceptance to
Medical School Program
What is your favorite thing about Honors? In my Honors
classes I see students who are willing to go the extra
mile to expand their knowledge, even when it is not
required. I know many who have taken classes just
because they seem interesting, not because they can be
used to fulfill a requirement. This mindset is one of
the greatest strengths of the Honors College.
Jessica Puthenparampil
Hometown: Missouri City, Texas
Major: Psychology, with Biology and Chemistry minors
Expected Graduation: May 2014
After graduation: I hope to attend the TTUHSC School of Medicine.
Campus Involvement: Honors Student Activities Board, Honors College Undergraduate
Research Fellow, South Asian Students’ Association, Eta Omicron Nu (HON), Honors
Lunch Discussion, Honors College Early Acceptance to Medical School
What is your favorite thing about Honors? I love the “small-school” feel of
Honors. Despite attending a university with 26,000 undergraduate students, I
am personally acquainted with the staff, faculty, and students of the College.
The free printing and food at the Honors College doesn’t hurt either! ;)
