Being a part of a smaller community within Texas Tech that helps you make unique connections early on in your academic experience so that throughout your undergraduate years you feel like you can always find someone on campus or in your classes to whom you can relate.

What is your favorite thing about Honors? The community
Honors fosters. The professors and staff go out of their
way to help you find out what you want to do, the value of
which I can’t put into words. I’ve met some of my closest
friends in Honors, ad have loved every moment of being a
student here.

What is your favorite thing about Honors? The
overwhelming sense of community. I didn't feel
like just another face in the crowd at a large
university because I have the smaller circle of

What is your favorite thing about Honors? There is a sense
of community created that has helped me immensely throughout
my time in college. I am a name, and people within the Honors
community are ready and willing to help me get where I want

What is your favorite thing about Honors? The variety of courses
I have been able to take; tt was always exciting to take a break
from my science courses and learn something completely new. The
Honors College has allowed me to expand my learning capacity to
be a much more intelligent, intellectual, and well-rounded student.

Ashley Eddy

What is your favorite thing about Honors? The feeling of
community. Not only does the Honors College provide incredible
in-classroom experiences, but it branches out to everything
else, giving every student a great support system.

Austin Fielding

Major: Mechanical Engineering

After graduation: I would like to study sustainable design and urban
development. This includes emerging and existing technologies in
sustainable energy, water reclamation, and urban gardening.

What is your favorite thing about Honors? The Honors courses, which
are not designed to be harder, just different. The 25-person cap
changes the dynamic of the class, and the students you learn
alongside usually have a genuine appreciation for the subject matter.
Every Honors professor I’ve had has done an outstanding job and
epitomized the mission of the Honors College.

eventually work at the FBI's National Center for the Analysis of Violent

What is your favorite thing about Honors? It has allowed me to customize
my college experience to make it exactly what I want it to be. The Honors
College offers so many cool classes and opportunities to try things I might
never have thought about doing before.

What is your favorite thing about Honors? I've had an end-of-the-year potluck at my
professor's house, ridden bikes with friends and professors from the college, attended
plays and concerts, and next spring I'm embarking on a ten day canoe trip with fellow
outdoor enthusiasts for the EVHM capstone class.

What is your favorite thing about Honors? I was so encouraged to study abroad; not
only did they connect me with other Honors students in my program but also gave me

What is your favorite thing about Honors? In the Honors
College, we are a family, where the main goal is to provide
students with new opportunities that will enhance learning.
There is always a committed staff member available to point
us in the right direction, and curiosity is not only welcomed
but also encouraged.

After graduation: I plan to enter medical school; I am

What is your favorite thing about Honors? In my Honors
classes I see students who are willing to go the extra
mile to expand their knowledge, even when it is not
required. I know many who have taken classes just
because they seem interesting, not because they can be
used to fulfill a requirement. This mindset is one of
the greatest strengths of the Honors College.

Nia Pierce

What is your favorite thing about Honors? The Honors College is filled with
diverse people of different majors, backgrounds, and cultures. My favorite Honors
activity is Lunch Discussion, which allows me to engage in interesting discussions
with other Honors students, faculty, and staff.

What is your favorite thing about Honors? The culture of learning nurtured by the faculty and staff. Extracurricular opportunities like HON, Honors College Book Club, and Friday Lunch Discussions provide opportunities to learn from extraordinary faculty and staff as well as fellow students. Being a member of the Honors College has enriched my college experience in more ways than I could ever begin to describe.

What is your favorite thing about Honors? I love the “small-school” feel of
Honors. Despite attending a university with 26,000 undergraduate students, I
am personally acquainted with the staff, faculty, and students of the College.
The free printing and food at the Honors College doesn’t hurt either! ;)
