Heather Medley, M.Ed.

When high achieving high school students start to consider their college options, I can share with you about all of the options that the Honors College at Texas Tech can afford you. For those local students who are ready for a challenge before graduation, we offer the Compass Program so that high school students can take college courses at Tech. Working with Terry Scholars on campus is one of the most rewarding parts of my responsibilities as they seek to learn and grow from one another while pursuing academic excellence. I also coordinate our alumni relations and the college’s publications. Promoting the amazing things that happen in the Honors College with our current students, faculty and staff as well as with our alumni has been one of the easiest parts of my job because there are so many tremendous things going on in Honors!  I look forward to promoting the incredible things that you will do as a member of the Honors College at Texas Tech University.

First-Year Experience

As the Honors First-Year Experience (FYE) Coordinator, I am responsible for making sure that our students’ transition to Texas Tech and into the Honors College is as smooth and successful as possible.  The FYE Program is designed to integrate new Honors students into the Honors Community, and provide them with a strong collegiate support system as well as the resources and tools they’ll need to become involved and      successful in Honors.  The FYE Mentors and I will work closely together to ensure that students have a positive first semester and will encourage them to find a home and a sense of belonging in the Honors College community through active participation in the FYE course and the attached Learning Community Group.

  Early Acceptance Programs

One of my many duties as an Honors Academic Advisor is to assist students wishing to pursue post-graduate studies in law or medicine. I am able to offer coursework and application guidance, regardless of a student’s college or major. Primarily, students I see are interested in one of our early acceptance programs. Our most popular, the Early Acceptance to Medical School, allows students to apply and be accepted to the Texas Tech School of Medicine during their junior year without taking the MCAT. In conjunction, we offer two early acceptance programs to the Texas Tech School of Law, the Early Acceptance to Law School Program and the 3+3 Undergraduate/Law School Program. If you are a student who holds any of these interests, I encourage you to contact me with any questions you may have.
