Student Assistant (SA)

Be a leader and join our team! The student assistant (SA) position is a wonderful opportunity for students who live on campus to gain work, life and people skills. The hall/complex office is the center of activity in each hall or complex. Student assistants are highly involved in providing customer service to residents, guests and visitors to Texas Tech University. This position offers experience working with people, communicating, resolving conflicts, administrative responsibilities and crisis management skills. The SA assists the Residence Life Coordinators/Graduate Hall Coordinators and hall/complex secretary in the daily management and operation of a hall/complex office and in creating a positive living environment for residents. SAs receive a wide variety of training and personal developmental opportunities. The SA is a team member and with that membership comes the opportunity for friendship, enjoyment, growth and leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Must live on campus
  • Must be currently attending Texas Tech University.
  • Must have a semester and cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above.
    First semester transfer students may substitute 12 transferred hours from an institution of higher education.
  • Must be in academic and judicial good standing with the University and the Department of Housing and Residence Life.
  • The SA position is a security-sensitive position,
    therefore, upon application, a criminal background check will be performed.(You must present your original social security card and picture id to be hired)

Application Process:
After your application is received, your qualifications will be verified. If you meet all requirements you will be contacted to set up an interview. After your interview your application may become active and be placed in a pool of candidates. Supervisors review active applications when positions become available in their building(s). If a position is offered, a social security card and photo ID are required for payroll purposes and a criminal background check.

Community Advisor (CA)

Encourage, Inspiration, Collaboration. Community Adviser.

The selection process for CA positions begins in Jan. each year for the following fall semester. Several information sessions will be offered and interested students MUST attend one of these sessions to receive an application. Information will be posted in all residence halls in January advertising the time and location of the sessions.  More information about this position can be found at the link below.
