Room Security/Lost Keys
Please keep your room locked at all times. Texas Tech University assumes no liability for loss, theft, or damage to guests’ personal property. Please do not loan your key out to anyone. Loaning your keys out or propping doors may compromise your safety and the safety of others. If you have lost your room key please report it to the front office immediately. There is a $30.00 charge for lost keys.
Lock Outs
Locked out of your room? If you are locked out of your room you will need to go to the front desk and ask for a lock out key. Please be aware of your camp’s lock out key policy. You will be required to show proof that you are living in that room. There is a 15 minute time limit on lock out keys. There is no charge for lock out keys.
Laundry Facilities
There are coin operated washers and dryers in each residence hall. Please report any problems with machine to the front desk.
Cable Television Access
Cable television access is available in all room at no additional charge. Guests must supply their own television and cable cord.
Front Desk Services
The front desk of each residence hall acts as a community resource for those who wish to know more information about campus or the community of Lubbock. Lock out keys, extra linens, change, reporting emergencies, completing work orders and many other services are available at the front desk.
Telephone Service
Access to local telephone service is provided in all rooms at no additional charge. Phones are not provided in the rooms. Guest must provide their own calling card to make long distance calls. Public phones are located in the lobbies of each residence hall.

Mail Service
Mail is not delivered or picked up at the residence halls during the summer months. If you need to mail a letter or package you can stop by PostTech located in the Student Union. If you need to have something sent to you, we would recommend sending to your sponsored camp or conference department.
Housing Policy
Windows
Window screens may not be loosened or removed for any reason. Dropping, throwing or allowing objects (liquid or solid) to be ejected from the window is prohibited.
Elevators
Tampering or maliciously damaging the elevators is strictly prohibited. Use the emergency elevator bell only in the event of an emergency.
Alcohol
The possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages is prohibited in all residence halls. The possession of empty alcoholic beverage containers is also prohibited.
Narcotics and Other Substances
The unlawful use, possession, sale, delivery or distribution of any narcotic drug, medicine, chemical compound or other controlled substance is subject an arrest, to university judicial action and/or may result in immediate removal of the guest.
Weapons
Texas state law prohibits weapons on all state property, including Texas Tech University. In the residence halls and dining rooms weapons are defined as handguns, switchblades, knives (two inches or more in length) and all hunting equipment, including shotguns, paint-pellet guns, bow and arrows and designated martial arts equipment. Ammunition for any type of firearm is prohibited.
Explosives
For reasons of safety and noise, explosives are not permitted in the residence halls. Any guest, who throws, ignites or has his or her possession any firecrackers, explosives or pyrotechnics of any nature within or around the residence hall will be subject to judicial action and may be immediately removed from the hall.
Water Balloon and Water Guns
We want you to enjoy your stay; however water balloons and water guns are a safety concern. Therefore, water balloons/guns are not allowed. Any water balloons/guns found will be held at the desk and given back to the guest when he or she checks out.
Smoking
Smoking is prohibited in all University facilities. There are designated areas outside for smoking.
Furniture
Room furniture may not be transferred, exchanged or taken out of the rooms.
Excessive Noise
Courtesy hours are in effect 24 hours a day. Quiet hours are from 10:00 p.m. – 10:00a.m.. Please be respectful of the guests around you.
Candles/Incense
Candles and incense are prohibited in the residence halls for fire safety.
Guest Visitation
Guest visitation for minor is not permitted. Guests are restricted to the floor assigned to them. Guest visitation for adults is permitted.
Room Entry
University personnel may enter a room to inspect for health, safety, maintenance and in the case of a life threatening situation.
Curfew Hours
Curfew hours are designated by each group.
Fire Alarms
Guests should do the following when the fire alarm sounds:
- Wear coat and shoes when possible.
- Close and lock the door and take room key.
- Take a large bath towel with you when possible.
- Residents who are in rooms other than their own at the time of the alarm should evacuate the building with the resident of the wing on which they are visiting.
- Proceed immediately in an orderly manner to the designated exit. Do not use the elevators.
- In case of inclement weather (cold, snow, rain, etc.), proceed to the lobby of the nearest residence hall.
Tornados
Guests should do the following in the event of a tornado warning:
- Close and lock the door and take the room key.
- Take a pillow, blanket or towel for protection.
- Proceed to the wins of the first or second floors and sit in the hall with your back to the wall. In high-rise buildings, the second and third floor hallways, elevator lobbies should also be used as shelter.
- Lounges, study halls or other areas near glass should not be used as shelter areas. Do not take shelter near glassed areas.
- Follow directions from the community advisors, student assistants and elected hall officers who will be acting on instruction for the area coordinator.
- Keep talking and other noise to a minimum so that instructions can be passed along.
- Do not use candles.
- Do not use elevators.
- Do not leave the building.

Parking Policies
Short term parking passes for conference guests can be purchased at the front office of the hall you are staying in. If your conference will be a long term conference you will need to contact the Traffic and Parking Office at:
