Operations Division

The Utility Department Chemistry team, comprised of Eddie Culbertson, Liz Lewis, and Chuck Long, identified a method to save thousands of dollars and millions of gallons of water in the utility plant cooling tower system. As a result, since September 2014, there has been a chemical and electrical savings in excess of $166,700 and a reduced use of water by more than 28 million gallons. Considering the limited water resources in the West Texas area, Texas Tech is serving as a good steward of our natural resources due to this team. Every gallon of water saved can go to other vital uses in our community. This team continually demonstrates valuable contributions to the plant, our department, our customers, and our community.
