Position Class Title	Lab Animal Technician
Position Description	Performs technical and manual duties in the care of research animals. Instructs subordinate staff in techniques of maintenance and preventive health care for animals. Provides responsible leadership in the inspection, treatment, breeding, and dietary care of research animals. Also conducts training and provides post-surgical nursing care of lab animals. Supervises subordinate employee.
Qualifications	Proficiency in written and mathematical processes as may be reflected in the completion of high school. Two years of post-high school education as a Veterinary Assistant or certification as a Laboratory Animal Technician by the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS). Two years of directly related experience working with animals.
