Youth Team Building
CAR provides an experiential approach to team building that emphasizes the value of collaboration and individuality among diverse groups. Youth will have the opportunity to further develop skills that build success as a whole through fun and interactive challenges. Through this experience, youth will gain an understanding of how teamwork creates an atmosphere in which individual differences are not barriers, but assets.
Workshop Description: Youth will participate in a variety of experiential and thought provoking activities that foster critical thinking, effective communication, strong peer support, encouragement and growth. Additionally, youth will be encouraged to maintain and value their individuality while developing new skills and attitudes that support a team.
Needs Identification: Youth will develop a foundation of individual leaders by enriching, reinforcing, and strengthening the skill sets of effective communication, collaboration, community and cohesiveness.
Learning Outcomes:
- Communication - understanding that effective communication includes listening, speaking, verbal/nonverbal interactions and body language.
- Collaboration - valuing the individual contributions that enhance the success of a team.
- Community - a unified body of individuals who develop a common ownership and a holistic appreciation for its peers, surroundings and organization.
- Cohesiveness - realizing the benefits of developing closer knit relationships within the confines of a team.
