What is a Traveling Trunk?

GLOBAL FUSION Educational Resources
Think, Reflect and
Take Action...
The traveling trunk is a tool to provide learning for students of all ages, incorporating a variety of learning strategies. As the title suggests, the trunk travels from classroom-to-classroom and utilizes a multidisciplinary approach to learning with hands-on activities for students. Many traveling trunks integrate state and national teaching standards. Experiential learning theory, defined as "education that occurs as a direct participant in the events of life" (Ricketts & Willis, 2002), supports the students active involvement in the learning process. Some of the benefits of a traveling trunk include:

Active student learning |
Positive student attitudes |
Excitement & curiosity |
Increased student attendance |
Self-directed learning |
Prepackaged curriculum |
