Carissa D'Aniello, Ph.D.
Dr. Carissa D'Aniello researches couple and family therapy processes, specifically,
therapy retention, common factors. The implications of her work center on improving
the quality of the training MFT students receive, and ultimately, improving therapy
quality. D'Aniello has authored several publications in the American Journal of Family
Therapy, Contemporary Family Therapy, The Family Journal, and the Journal of Marital
and Family Therapy. In 2016, D'Aniello was awarded the AAMFT Dissertation Award for
her outstanding dissertation titled: A Common Factors Informed Mixed Methods Investigation
of Clients of Marriage and Family Therapists' Perception of Therapy Productiveness.
D'Aniello is an Assistant Professor of Couple and Family Therapy, an AAMFT Pre-Clinical
Fellow, Approved Supervisor and a member of the National Council on Family Relations.
