About the ADM Program

The Apparel Design and Manufacturing program at Texas Tech University provides the key to entering the glamorous world of fashion. Students learn to create and produce their own designs, research, and apply the latest trends, manage product development, apparel design, or design and construct costumes or stage. A variety opportunities and jobs are possible with a degree in Apparel Design and Manufacturing.


Apparel Design and Manufacturing students have a number of special opportunities:

  • Flexibility
  • Depending on your interest, you can choose a minor from such areas as art, business, retailing, mass communications or theater.

  • Travel
  • An annual fashion tour of New York or Los Angeles is available to students in the Apparel Design and Manufacturing program.

  • Design Competition and Senior Fashion Show
  • Apparel Design and Manufacturing students may also enter two annual apparel design contests where they may see their creations on the runway in a professional fashion show.

  • Senior Internship
  • Another important part of the Apparel Design and Manufacturing program is the senior internship, a time when you can gain practical experience prior to graduation.

  • Computer Applications
  • Students have access to well-equipped design and production laboratories, a computer laboratory that features state-of-the-art apparel design, and pattern making, as well as a museum on campus that features an extensive collection of historic textiles and fashions.

  • Undergraduate Research
  • Undergraduate student have opportunity for research experiences about apparel manufacturing and design.

  • Career Development
  • Career opportunities for graduates include designing couture or mass-produced apparel, pattern making, pattern grading and marking, fashion illustration, product development, trend analysis, and knitwear design and production. The Apparel Design and Manufacturing program in the College of Human Sciences prepares you to enter numerous positions in the apparel industry.
