Move over Marc Jacobs. Design’s next vanguard makes a scene.

Paris? Milan? New York? Save the plane ticket. Hub City fashionistas who were on the hunt for hot apparel and interior design trends needed to look no further that the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center last Spring, April 27, 2007.

Interior Design students displayed their portfolios and Apparel Design and Manufacturing students exhibited their portfolios and staged a fashion show of original garments.

“This is a great opportunity for our students to get exposure in a public setting” said Rachel Anderson, ADM Program Coordinator in the Department of Design. “It also enables local businesses and the city to see the kind of talent we have right here inside Lubbock.”

Awards for Apparel Design and Manufacturing were announced during the event: Rising Star (student voted awards) Stephanie Helms, Sarah Smith, Meggie Hodge, and Monica Ha

2007 Glenna Goodacre Design Award: Lisa Hannah and Brittany Zorn

2007 Pete and Eleanor Woodson Scholarship: Stephanie Helms

The event also included a silent auction of messenger bags created from upscale fabric donated by top interior design firms. The bags were made by Texas Tech students in manufacturing classes and were completely sold out.

We would like to thank our Senior Class of 07, MAC Cosmetics, Toni and Guy Salon, Talbots, and Hi Tech Fashion Group.

We look forward to another spectacular event next year!
