Dr. Su-Jeong Hwang Shin
Dr. Su Shin is an active sub-committee member of American Society for Testing and Materials, related to apparel technology and production standardization. She is a member of International Textiles and Apparel Association (ITAA), a member of Human Factor & Ergonomics Society (HFES), an educational member of American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS), a member of Textile Institution (TI), and an associate member of American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC).
She received her doctorate from North Carolina State University in Textile & Apparel, Technology & Management. She conducted research utilizing apparel CAD and 3D body scanning technology for “standardization and automation of garment production” funded by National Textile Center.
Her papers have been presented at international and national conferences: International Textiles and Apparel Association, Textile Institute and National Textile Center Joint World Conference, Textile Institute World Conference, International Association of Universities for Textiles, International Fiber Conference, and International Foundation of Fashion Technology Institutes World Conference. In addition, articles are published. The articles appear in Journal of Fashion Marketing and Management Clothing, International Journal of Consumer Studies, International Journal of Human Ecology, Journal of Textile and Apparel Technology and Management.
Research is being conducted to develop standard sizing systems for mass customization and mass production, analyzing human body dimensions, fit, and body shape analysis with 3D body scan technology. She teaches Computer Applications for Apparel Design (CAD), Introduction to Apparel Design, Fashion Illustration, and Apparel Manufacturing.
