Interior Design Seniors Go Out In Style!
TECHstyle is a new event that the Department of Design has created to show off its students in style. For the first time, Apparel Design & Manufacturing and Interior Design Students were recognized during the same event. TECHstyle is a cocktail and hors d’oeuvres reception that was held last May at the Civic Center here in Lubbock.
At this event, there were 17 Apparel Design student collections and 54 senior Interior Design student portfolios that could be viewed. The 17 fashion collections were viewed in a runway format while the Interior Designers put their portfolios up on panels. Also at TECHstyle, there were multiple student awards and scholarships presented.
Students invited friends, family, and special guests to join them at TECHstyle. Also invited were all of the Texas Tech faculty and friends of the University. The event brought in 800 people. A live auction was held at the event. We auctioned off hand made bags and all of the proceeds went to Department of Design scholarships.
We had a great turn out for the first year and we are expecting an even bigger turnout next year! Thanks to all of the people that made this event so wonderful. We look forward to doing it all again next spring.
