Robert Brooks, District Team Leader, Target Corporation
Robert Brooks is a District Team Leader for Target Corporation. Robert’s 19-year career in retail began at Target working as a cart attendant and cashier throughout high school and college. After graduating, he held various management positions in the Houston market and promoted to Store Team Leader. After running several stores, he moved to Target Headquarters in Minneapolis and worked as a Store Merchant. As a Store Merchant, he supported merchandising and store teams in a consulting capacity including the development of Neiman Marcus Designer launch in Target and Neiman Marcus Stores and the redesign of Mom and Baby Adjacency. Robert returned to Texas in 2013 as a District Team Leader and is responsible for making Target the preferred shopping destination for our guests by delivering outstanding value, continuous innovation and an exceptional guest experience by consistently fulfilling our Expect More. Pay Less. brand promise for eleven stores in Fort Worth and West Texas.
Robert earned a BBA in Marketing from the University of Houston and a MBA from the University of Phoenix.

Scott Pettit, Director of Showtime In-store Selling & Culinary Marketing for H-E-B
Scott Pettit is the Director of In-Store Selling and Culinary Marketing for HEB. He is responsible for in-stores selling activities and management; Cooking Connection line of business; culinary education, and recipe development enterprise. Additionally, Scott drives product development and product sourcing activities for specialty food and wine within his various lines of intra-corporate businesses.
Scott’s 31-year career in retail began in Lubbock in 1983 as a college student working at Albertsons. He started out bagging groceries and later moved up the ranks with Albertsons to hold several management positions in the Austin area. In 1993, Scott accepted an offer to join HEB in Waco. He moved quickly from Drug Director to Store Manager. Scott ran several stores, then ascended to Unit Director (manager of largest volume stores). While in store management, Scott carved out a reputation for being people-focused and innovative. He was credited with creating his own selling team (an idea that he would later implement after taking on a company-wide department.) Scott was promoted to Regional Manager – Grocery and transferred to San Antonio. In that position, he was recognized for his work in both productivity and training. Today, more than 3,000 HEB Partners report into Scott’s various lines businesses.
In addition to Scott’s involvement with Texas Tech’s Retail Industry Board, he serves on the FCCLA Business Advisory Council and the HEB Health & Wellness Taskforce. Scott has received several collegiate and business honors to include an LBJ Congressional Internship, serving Treasurer of Student Body and, most recently, Shrink Performance Award, and Excellence in Management citation.
Scott lives in Boerne with his wife and two children. He has two grown children, one a graduate student in mechanical engineering at Texas Tech.
Mark A. Messura, Global Supply Chain Marketing for Cotton Incorporated
Mark Messura serves as Senior Vice President, Global Supply Chain Marketing for Cotton Incorporated, where he is responsible for the company’s global product marketing programs. Mr. Messura currently serves as Chairman of the International Forum for Cotton Promotion. He is a member of the Industry Advisory Board to the Textile Development and Marketing Department at the Fashion Institute of Technology and Chairman of the Industry Advisory Board, Fashion and Textile Management Program at North Carolina State University. Mr. Messura serves as an adjunct associate professor in the College of Textiles at North Carolina State University. He serves on the Washington State University Extension National Board of Advisors.
Travis M. Kern, Suitsupply
Travis Kern has over 10 years of professional experience in the areas of sales, marketing, management, customer service management, leadership, human resources, recruitment, and business development. He has extensive knowledge in retail management, retail operations, buying and merchandising, personnel development and strategic plan implementation. He has proven skills in organization, operations, management, sales, marketing, personnel development, and customer satisfaction.
Travis began his career in retail while he was still pursuing his high school degree. While pursuing his degree at Texas Tech University, he continued to expand his retail career with Malouf’s Fine Apparel. Prior to graduation he was promoted to a key leadership position for Malouf’s at their California location. At Malouf’s, Travis led the effort to evaluate the viability of a store location, liquidate and relocate to meet company strategic initiatives.
