Mission Statement
The Mission of the Dietetic Internship Program is to provide graduates of accredited or approved dietetic program, quality supervised experiences that will prepare them to perform as an entry-level dietitian to make a contribution to the profession and society as a whole.
Goal 1
To offer interns a variety of high quality supervised experiences that will enable them to practice as competent entry-level dietitians upon completion of the internship
Outcome Measures
- Interns will meet 100% of the expected competencies for the DI with a score of 2 or above.
- On a scale of 4, DI will rate preceptors and experiences at 3 or above.
- At the completion of the internship, students will pass an exit exam with a score of 70 or above.
- All of the interns (100%) will complete the DI Program.
- At least 80% of the interns completing the program will be employed in dietetics or related field within a year, or will be pursuing post-graduate work.
- Within a year, 100% of the interns will agree that the program prepared them adequately to perform as an entry-level dietitian.
- Over a five year period, graduates of the DI will achieve an 80% passing rate on the RD exam as first-time takers
- Over a five year period, graduates of the DI will achieve an average score within 5% of the national score or better on the RD exam
- When surveyed, 90% of responding employers will agree that DI graduates are competent dietitians.
Goal 2
To expose students to a variety of experiences leading to life-long learning as a professional.
Outcome Measures
- When surveyed, 90% of the preceptors agree that the experiences provided in the internship are adequate to develop life-long skills as a professional.
- When surveyed, 90% of the responding DI graduates will report maintenance of RD status reflecting Continuing Professional Education.
- When surveyed, 90% of the responding DI graduates will report that the internship provided a variety of experiences conducive to life-long learning.
- When surveyed, 60% of the responding DI graduates will report they are productive professionals
