College of Human Sciences Sponsors 2nd Annual Book and Clothing Drive
Date: November 16, 2007
Donations will be given to families of Early Head Start program.
Texas Tech University’s College of Human Sciences announced Friday (Nov. 16) the start of the 2nd Annual Book and Clothing Drive for the 2007 holiday season.
Faculty, staff and students across the Texas Tech campus will donate books and clothing for needy families within the Lubbock community. The College of Human Sciences Early Head Start program interacts with these families on a daily basis and saw the need for a little extra help during the holidays.
“Early Head Start is a program that not only meets the needs of the Lubbock community but also the needs of families and children,” said Linda Hoover, dean of the College of Human Sciences. “To be able to give these families a little something extra during the season of giving is an honor and something that we are proud to do.”
Those interested in participating in the book and clothing drive should bring donations to the College of Human Sciences, located at 15th Street and Akron Avenue on the Texas Tech campus. Financial donations also can be made for Early Head Start employees to buy books and clothing for the families. The drive will officially end on Dec. 12th with a Winter Festival hosted at the Early Head Start building. All donations are anonymous.
Early Head Start program provides services to families from culturally and socio-economically diverse backgrounds. As part of the College of Human Sciences, the Early Head Start program enhances the college’s mission to further the human condition and to encourage community involvement.
