Bank of America, Merrill Lynch Donate to Texas Tech Early Head Start
September 28, 2010
Bank of America and Merrill Lynch officials donated $10,000 Tuesday (Sept. 28) to purchase new playground equipment for Texas Tech University's Early Head Start program.
Early Head Start, a partnership between Texas Tech and Lubbock Housing Authority, provides free assistance to low-income toddlers and pregnant women from the Parkway and Cherry Point neighborhoods in Lubbock.
The $10,000 will purchase shade trees and equipment including a balance beam, climbing mountain, playhouse and tire swing to expand the program's existing playground.
"We are very appreciative of the generosity of Bank of America and Merrill Lynch," said Stephanie Shine, grant manager of the Early Head Start program. "Our program has served more than 800 Lubbock children since its inception, and this equipment will only enhance our ability to provide low-income children a secure place to develop crucial physical and social skills."
