Stephen Spiegelberg and Lindsay Spiegelberg co-owners of Chrome hosted a networking function on Friday April 23rd at 6:00 PM in the Chrome Theatre for Retail Management students. This was a great opportunity for students to network with executives and meet new people. Approximately 80 students and faculty attended. The speakers were:
- Ron Robinson President of Apothia and Vice President of Fred Segal. Ron spoke about brand development, focusing on the Apothia brand. He explained the process of product development and how important packaging is to a brand.
- Paul Lommen of Dolce Vita Footwear - Dolce Vita is one of the hottest shoe companies in the US right now. They are currently expanding the number of their stores and sell their line to a limited number of specialty stores such as Chrome. Paul He is based out of San Fran. This is a global company based in NYC. The owners were FIT grads, buyers for Nordstrom’s, and graduates of one of Europe's top fashion design school. They built the company vertically.
- Rob Koeing of CincoKings. Rob has represented brands for 20 years. He has launched labels like Retro Brand, RVCA, Modern Amusement, Nixon. He is a major player at Project NY and Magic in Vegas. Rob lead a great discussion on buying ups and downs from a vendor's view point when working with majors. Rob shared how trends determine what's hot before the buyers are even shown a line.
