Retailing Displays
June 2, 2010 | Written by Valerie Hlavaty
The Retail Promotion Class of Nutrition, Hospitality and Retail Management partnered with local retailers for a visual merchandising project for the spring of 2010. During the semester, the students learned core design elements, terms, and promotion strategies used in visual merchandising. At the beginning of the semester, they incorporated those skills by designing shadow box displays as their first hands-on experience. As a final project, they worked with a retailer to create a unique feature display within the store or in a window. You may have noticed the exciting displays in the following Lubbock retail establishment: Red and Black College Bookstore, 10.20 Boutique and 40 Below, All about Moi, Malouf’s, HollyHocks, Dillard’s Children’s Department, and T.C. Elli’s. {see photos below}
We want to thank these retailers for mentoring the students and for their support of the Nutrition, Hospitality and Retail Management department.
