Retail Management Dallas Area Corporate Field Trip Spring 2011

March 29-31, 2011, fifteen retail management undergraduate students ventured on a field trip to Dallas area retail corporate offices and also toured the Dallas Market Center. The first stop was Fossil corporate offices located in Richardson, TX. The students met many top officials in the Fossil organization. Next was JC Penney corporate offices in Plano, TX. A panel including JC Penney corporate personnel advised students on interviewing techniques. Next was a tour of Southlake Town Square by developer Frank Bliss. Mr. Bliss personally escorted students throughout the town square and explained the philosophy for Southlake Town Square's continuing success. The group also paid a hello visit to Malouf's (Lubbock-based fine clothier) new to Southlake. Day two began with a tour and presentation of Dallas Market Center. The students toured all fifteen floors and were amazed at the vastness of the market center. The students also traveled to Neiman Marcus Direct in Los Colinas for a recruiting presentation by Jodi Kahn, College Recruiter for Neiman Marcus. Texas Tech alums, Destinee Stewart - Assistant Buyer, Designer II and Melissa Matthews - Buyer, Jewelry for Neiman Marcus Direct, spoke to the students. Ms. Matthews and Ms. Stewart reminisced about their favorite landmarks while attending Texas Tech. Retail management student Lauren Bass commented, "It was a great experience for me. I finally know what it is like in corporate. I wish I could take the trip again!" Another corporate field trip is planned for March 28-30, 2012.
