Texas Tech's College of Human Sciences honored the recipients of the Distinguished Alumni Awards, New Achiever Award, Lifetime Distinguished Service Award and Distinguished Leadership Award at the 28th Annual Distinguished Alumni Luncheon on November 4, 2010.

Spring 2009 Senior Picnic

2009 Graduating seniors were treated to a picnic in the COHS Dean’s courtyard on April 15, 2009. Students enjoyed burgers, hotdogs and sundaes. Several businesses donated items for giveaways and each student in attendance received a keychain from the college in recognition of their hard work and dedication. {view images}

2008 COHS Awards Banquet

The 3rd Annual College of Human Sciences Banquet was held on Sunday, December 2, from 6-8 pm at the Merket Alumni Center. For the past two years, this has been an enjoyable ceremony that recognizes the efforts of student leaders and student organizations. The banquet is sponsored by the Preprofessional Section of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. {read more}

Mother Daughter Pilot Program

The American Association of University Women’s Mother Daughter Program raises the expectations of young women who would be the first in their family to attend college. This innovative program helps sixth-grade girls and their mothers create their own hopes for a bright and secure future.

The Mother-Daughter Program was developed by the Lubbock Betty Anderson Branch of The American Association of University Women (AAUW) in collaboration with Texas Tech University (TTU) and the Lubbock Independent School District. Patterned after a successful twenty-year program at the University of Texas at El Paso, its purpose is to empower young women to achieve academically and to pursue a college education. {read more}

COHS Students Named to 2008's WHO'S WHO

Texas Tech is officially announcing our list of 96 students named for 2008’s list of Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities. Faculty, staff, family, and friends of the recipients are invited to attend the 2008 Who's Who Recognition Reception scheduled for Sunday, November 2nd, 2008 at the Merket Alumni Center. The reception will begin at 2:00 p.m. and a short recognition program will follow. Dr. Gary Elbow, Associate Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, will be the guest speaker at this year’s reception and will help with the certificate presentation. {read more}

LISD Reveals Who Will Lead Lubbock's First All Girls School

We now know where Lubbock's first all girls public school will be and who will lead that school.

Newschannel 11 first told you about plans for the new school back in September. And Tuesday, the district announced it will open the new school next fall.

A group called the Foundation for the Education of Young Women is giving Lubbock ISD a $1 million grant to start a school for young women. {read more}
