What will the curriculum be like?

During the Financial Planning Academy, participants will gain exposure to an expertly developed personal finance curriculum, college life, and career options in the Registered Investment Advisory (RIA) industry. Engaging in teamwork and working alongside financial planning professionals, participating students will gain skills in money management, leadership, communication, team building, and more. The camp is designed to get participants interested in and excited about personal finance, while also providing insight into the profession of personal financial planning. Financial Planning Academy will provide participants with real life money skills and allow them to experience what college life is like. At the conclusion of Financial Planning Academy, participants, as part of team, will present their competition ready case studies to a panel of judges. The content in the presentations will be created using the most relevant financial planning software, be interactive in nature, and require participants to use the knowledge they have gained during Financial Planning Academy to answer client questions. The presentations will be evaluated by a panel of professional financial planners. The judges will ask questions and ultimately decide which teams they believe are most capable of integrating the curriculum learned over the course of the camp to develop well thought-out, practical solutions to money management related issues. The results from this competition and the results from other teamwork competitions during the week will determine who wins the Academy.
