Guaranteed Merit Scholarships

Who is eligible?

For High-Achieving Students

  • First-Time Entering Freshmen
    • Must meet merit requirements outlined below.
    • Must apply to Texas Tech University (TTU) by April 15.

We recommend entering freshmen complete the TTU application at http://www.scholarships.ttu.edu to be considered for additional university, college, and department scholarships by February 1; transfer students are encouraged to apply before March 1.

    • Select appropriate category (Incoming Freshman or Transfer Students)
    • Complete the FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov in addition to your scholarship application to be considered for need-based scholarships. Preference date: February 15 for fall entry students, November 15 for spring entry students.

    • Select Continuing Students category
    • To be considered for need-based scholarships, fill out your FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov, by the February 15 preference date.

1400 SAT* or 32 ACT $36,000 = $12,000 ($3,000 per year*) CoHS + $24,000 TTU
1300 SAT* or 29 ACT $24,000 = $8,000 ($2,000 per year*) CoHS + $16,000 TTU
1250 SAT* or 28 ACT $21,000 = $7,000 ($1,750 per year*) CoHS + $14,000 TTU
Top 25 Percent CoHS Presidential Matching Scholarship
1500 SAT* or 34 ACT $30,000 = $10,000 ($2,500 per year*) CoHS + $20,000 TTU
1400 SAT* or 32 ACT $24,000 = $8,000 ($2,000 per year*) CoHS + $16,000 TTU
1300 SAT* or 29 ACT $21,000 = $7,000 ($1,750 per year*) CoHS + $14,000 TTU

Students receiving College of Human Sciences scholarships have annual requirements to ensure merit scholarship renewal.

*Renewal requirements:

  • Maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA
  • Enrollment in 12 or more semester hours each spring and fall semester
  • Progressing toward a CoHS degree
  • Write thank you letters to donors and attend CoHS stewardship events when requested by the dean’s office

Assured Admissions requirements are determined by the office of undergraduate admissions. You are assured admission if you are graduating from an accredited high school and present the required combination of high school class rank and college entrance test scores indicated above.

*The required SAT scores for assured admissions are based on the math and critical reading portions only.
