Texas Tech University

Art by Artists from the Public Art Committee

Exhibit Dates: April 23 – June 20, 2014

One of the crown jewels of the beautiful TTU campus is its magnificent Public Art Collection, named one of the top university collections in the nation by Public Art Review magazine. What many may not know is that this is a TTU system-wide collection, with world-class art gracing the campuses of San Angelo, Amarillo, and El Paso.

In order to celebrate the Texas Tech University System's Public Art Collection, Tech's International Cultural Center is proud to showcase this exhibition of work by artists who have served on the UPAC committee. Not all committee members are working artists, of course, but there have been so many artists on the committee over the years that we wanted to bring them together for their own exhibit. Because of space constraints, we were unable to include three-dimensional work, so, unfortunately, we couldn't include work by the sculptors from the committee.

The exhibition features art by the following local artists—each of whom has served, or is currently serving, on the University System Public Art Collection Committee:

  • Bonnie Aycock
  • John Chinn
  • Ken Dixon
  • Tina Fuentes
  • Lahib Jaddo
  • Pat Maines
  • Ken Pirtle
  • Barbara Barnhart Rallo
  • Ashton Thornhill

This exhibit is made possible, in part, by a grant from The CH Foundation.
