Waters Elementary is hosting their 5th Annual Armed Forces Day on November 6. All students will be active participants by doing hands-on activities (examples-making poppies, writing letters to active military, listening and asking questions of retired veterans and active duty military). All students will perform patriotic songs, quotes and poems throughout the day. A service dog will show young students how valuable animals are in the military and during wartime.

A Marine Humvee from the Vietnam War will be on display outside for students to explore. A military helicopter will be on the grounds as well.

Artifacts from most major wars will be displayed in the museum. Many items are on loan from the Vietnam Center and International Cultural Center at Texas Tech, as well as from students who have veterans and active duty personnel in their families. Vet Star is providing speakers from each branch of the service. The Joe Foss Institute sponsors speakers the week before Armed Forces Day to prepare students for this special day. The Silent Wings Museums will be part of our museum time-line. The Wall of Honor will honor students' family members who are active duty, retired military and also those who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom.

Parents and the community are invited to participate in a day where we learn together and recognize our heroes!
