President Nellis addresses Tech’s international graduates and their guests

With over 200 graduates and their families from abroad in attendance, this spring's International Graduation Reception was one of the largest groups of graduates and guests ever hosted by Tech's Office of International Affairs. The Office of International Affairs hosts this reception to honor and congratulate those international students who have completed their course of study and achieved their goal of graduating from Texas Tech University. It is also a way to congratulate the friends and family members who have offered the graduates their support and encouragement over the years.

The Graduation Reception featured several special guests who addressed the audience and participated in honoring the graduating class. Texas Tech President, Dr. M. Duane Nellis, was among the featured speakers at the reception. He acknowledged the success and accomplishments of the graduating class and awarded Certificates of Global Leadership to International Student Advisory Board members. Other guest speakers included the Vice Provost for International Affairs, Ambassador Tibor P. Nagy, Jr.; Dean of the Graduate School, Dr. Mark Sheridan; Associate Vice Provost for International Programs,Dr. Sukant Misra; and former President of the International Student Council, Mrunali Patil. TTU Mascot Raider Red appeared midway through the reception to pose for photos and give away door prizes to the graduates.

After the speakers and special presentations, guests listened to the live tango music of the World Music Ensemble from Texas Tech's School of Music and enjoyed a variety of delicious hors d'oeuvres. All graduates later assembled around the International Cultural Center's globe for photographs with President Nellis, Ambassador Nagy, Dr. Misra, and Dr. Sheridan.
