Gilman Scholarship:

The Gilman Scholarship Program is open to U.S.citizen undergraduate students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding at a two-year or four-year college or university to participate in study and intern abroad programs worldwide.For complete information, please visit gilman-scholarship-program


Study Abroad Competitive Scholarship (SACS):

All domestic students are eligible to apply for the Study Abroad Competitive Scholarship program. Applications are due by a designated deadline. For domestic student awardees, the SACS may provide a certain monetary award for an appropriate academic term or summer session. Every TTU student pays the SACS fee every academic term that he or she is enrolled at Texas Tech University, and therefore, is eligible to apply each term. SACS dates are as follows:

  • Aug 29: Spring 2017 SACS Application opens.
  • Oct 07: Spring 2017 SACS Application closes.
  • Nov 16: SACS Committee meets to determine Spring 2017 awards.
  • Jan 19: Summer & Fall 2017 SACS Application opens.
  • Mar 03: Summer & Fall 2017 SACS Application closes.
  • Apr 19: SACS Committee meets to determine Summer & Fall 2017 awards.

OIA Undergraduate Scholarship:

Awards for up to $1,000 available. For full-time incoming freshmen, transfer, and current students born outside the United States, regardless of citizenship, residency or national origin.New applications are not currently being accepted.

For full-time incoming freshmen, transfer, and current students:

  • For students born outside the United States, regardless of citizenship, residency or national origin
  • Must be proficient in two languages
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or more
  • Must have demonstrable financial need

These scholarships are not considered competitive and do not qualify the recipient for an out-of-state tuition waiver. New applications are not currently being accepted.


Clinton Colgin Memorial Scholarship:

This $3000 scholarship is for a student with financial need who is going to The TTU Center in Seville during the fall semester.

Deadline: August 15, 2016

This award is given to a student who studies at The Texas Tech University Center in Seville, Spain during the fall semester. This $3000.00 scholarship is based on an essay submitted as part of the study abroad application process. Essay should be 1-2 pages in length and address academic goals to be accomplished during the semester as well as financial needs that would be met by means of receiving the gift. Selection committee will determine recipient.

Debbie Shelfer Gift:

This $2000 gift is awarded to a student with financial need who is going to the TTU Center in Seville during the fall semester.

Deadline: August 15, 2016

Award is $2000.00 and is based on an essay submitted as part of the study abroad application process. Essay should be 1-2 pages in length and address academic goals to be accomplished during the semester as well as financial needs that would be met by means of receiving the gift.

Harold and Mary Dregne Memorial Scholarship:

Scholarships of varying numbers and amounts available. Awards are for an undergraduate (junior level or above, GPA 3.0 or above) or a graduate student, pursuing a degree with an international or interdisciplinary emphasis.

Deadline: TBA for the Fall 2017 semester.

The applicant should be an undergraduate (junior level or above, GPA 3.0 or above) or a graduate student, pursuing a degree with an international or interdisciplinary emphasis. Preference will be given to students in an aridlands program or those studying issues affecting aridlands and seeking to study abroad.

Provide official transcript(s); two letters of recommendation (may be sent directly by the recommender to the address below); a short essay that discusses your international / interdisciplinary / aridlands interest (double-spaced, maximum 2 pages, 12 pt. font); career objectives; and a cover sheet giving your name, address, telephone number, email, R#, and major field of study. Dingus Memorial Scholarship:

Several awards up to $1,000. Awards are for students majoring in LAW, MASS COMMUNICATIONS, HISTORY, POLITICAL SCIENCE, or CLASSICAL & MODERN LANGUAGES and LITERATURES.

Deadline: March 31, 2017 for the Fall 2017 semester.

If you are a student majoring in LAW, MASS COMMUNICATIONS, HISTORY, POLITICAL SCIENCE, or CLASSICAL & MODERN LANGUAGES and LITERATURES, and if you have a deep interest in international relations and can illustrate some type of involvement or tangible contribution to this area of activity, this scholarship might be for you. Awardees must agree with the philosophical ideals of the United Nations and have financial need. This scholarship will be awarded for the academic year beginning August 2017.

You must provide the following: official transcript(s); three letters of recommendation; a short essay that discusses your interest in international affairs and the United Nations (double-spaced, maximum 2 pages, 12 point font); career objectives; and a cover sheet giving your name, address, telephone number, email, R#, and major field of study. There is not an application form. Awards up to $1,000 and several lesser ones available.
