National History Day: South Plains Regional Workshop

This workshop will cover information needed to implement National History Day locally. Activities and resources will be provided in addition to basic information for how to successfully implement the contest in your classroom.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OFFERINGS

CULTURE CONNECTIONS: Course 1

This program examines culture at a deeper level through discussion, simulations, and various activities. Participants will examine their own personal culture, the development of American culture, and levels of cultural competency.

*Program designed for pre-service teachers or teachers currently in the classroom. Offered year-round upon request.

CULTURE CONNECTIONS: Course 2

This program discusses cultural awareness in the classroom. Participants will examine their personal biases, the impact of values and culture on people's behavior, culture traits for various countries, and how to address cultural differences in the classroom.

*Program designed for pre-service teachers or teachers currently in the classroom. Offered year-round upon request.

Exploring K-12 GEO: How to engage students in a global classroom.

This program discusses cultural awareness and engagement in the classroom through participation and exploration of programs offered by K12 GEO. Participants receive a brief overview of services offered by K12 GEO and experience the benefits of engaged learning at the ICC.
