Summary: The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs announces an open competition for the Benjamin Franklin Transatlantic Fellow Summer Institute. Potential host universities may submit proposals to provide a four-week U.S.-based institute in the summer of 2019. The institute will engage 45 teenagers from Europe and 10 teenagers from the United States. The institute will focus on transatlantic relationships, leadership development, critical thinking, diplomacy, community activism, and the media as ways that young adults can unite around their common goals.

Summary: The purpose of the CAEIA project is to support public-private partnerships to link developing country clean energy needs with a growing interest among U.S. and international companies to procure and support clean and advanced energy technologies. CAEIA will support a limited number of developing countries that may include Vietnam, Colombia, Mexico, Indonesia, Philippines, and Kenya. Success will be achieved via identifying and enabling effective policy structures in order to unlock public and private sources of funding for various energy-related sectors, providing technical assistance to support the development and growth of clean and advanced energy markets, and by aggregating demand and creating investment-ready clean and advanced energy projects to attract U.S. and international investment.

Summary: The U.S. Embassy Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Consulate General in Mumbai (PAS Mumbai) seeks proposals to assist in all logistical arrangements for an international alumni symposium. The grantee will work collaboratively with PAS Mumbai and get its approval on its recommendations for any program topics and speakers. The one-and-one-half-day outreach symposium will bring together 100 U.S. State Department exchange alumni for a networking reception in the evening that will provide an opportunity for alumni to connect among themselves and with U.S. Consulate General Mumbai staff to develop contacts to advise them on future programs and activities.

Summary: To support continued capacity development in the justice sector in East Asia and Pacific region, International Narcotics and Law has allocated $500,000 in FY 2017 funds for a two-year, pilot project on capacity development for young legal professionals. This project will pilot professional development opportunities for legal professionals in the first five years of their career. The project will focus on sustainable legal professional development for prosecutors, judges, and public defense attorneys involved in criminal cases in the proposed pilot country. In the second year of the project, the implementer will conduct an assessment of a proposed second country for expansion.
