Study Abroad Scholarships

Buena Vista Endowed Scholarship

OIA Scholarship Chair: Dr. Joan Goodman-Williamson

Eligibility: Awards are for TTU undergraduate students pursuing study abroad. The Scholarship is awarded with preference to a student who demonstrates financial need. Applicants should have a 3.0 GPA at the time of application.

Timing: The Buena Vista Scholarship will be announced three times year for award during the following academic term.

Deadlines:

  • For Study Abroad during the Fall term: 15 February
  • For Study Abroad during the Spring term: 5 October
  • For Study Abroad during the Summer: 15 February

Application procedure: There is not an application form for this scholarship. Students should nominate themselves, providing as a single PDF file:

  1. A cover sheet giving name giving name of scholarship, student name, information of two recommenders (see below)
  2. Official transcripts
  3. A short (up to 1000 words, double-spaced) essay describing how the Study Abroad experience will address their academic goals and indicate how the scholarship will help meet their financial need.
  4. Completed application should be sent to: oia.scholarship@ttu.edu
  5. Two letters of recommendation should be sent directly by the recommender to: oia.scholarship@ttu.edu

Award: The amount of the scholarship is up to $3,000 for the term of the academic year during which the student plans to study abroad. It will be disbursed as a scholarship, paying tuition and fees first, with any remaining balance issued to the student by Student Business Services (SBS). In addition, this award is expected to waive out-of-state tuition for the award year and does not require any service to the University.

Clinton Colgin Study Abroad Scholarship

OIA Scholarship Chair: Dr. Joan Goodman-Williamson

Eligibility: Awards are for TTU undergraduate students pursuing study abroad at the TTU Center in Seville (currently only for study during fall and spring terms). The Scholarship is awarded with preference to a student who demonstrates financial need.

Timing: The Colgin Scholarship will be announced twice a year for award term of the academic year during which the student plans to study abroad at the TTU Center in Sevilla, Spain.

Deadlines:

  • For Study Abroad during the Fall term: 15 February
  • For Study Abroad during the Spring term 5 October

  1. A cover sheet giving name of scholarship, student name, address, telephone number, email, R#, major field of study, and names and contact information of two recommenders (see below)
  2. Official transcripts
  3. A short (up to 1000 words, double-spaced) essay describing how the Study Abroad experience will address their academic goals and indicate how the scholarship will help meet their financial need.
