The TTU Center in Sevilla
Sevilla is located on the Guadalquivir River in southern Spain in the heart of the region known as Andalusia. A city of roughly 700,000 inhabitants, Sevilla offers all of the advantages of a big city while still maintaining a small-town feel. In Sevilla, students can still appreciate the splendor of Golden Age Spain as they meander through the nooks and crannies of the medieval city center, whose cathedral holds the tomb of Christopher Columbus, and at the same time take advantage of the modern cultural and leisure activities that this vibrant city has to offer.
The Texas Tech University Center in Sevilla offers students the opportunity to take catalog Texas Tech classes taught by Texas Tech faculty. Classes are regularly offered in Spanish and Engineering, with other courses taught depending on the visiting faculty. The Center has a permanent staff as well as faculty that travel from Lubbock to Sevilla every semester (fall, spring, and summer). The Center is located in a building that originally dates back to the 1890s, and today has all of the modern conveniences a university facility needs. It is conveniently situated in a bustling neighborhood, literally steps away from all sorts of eateries and shops.
Excursions and field trips are an integral part of programs at The Center. They range in length from half-day trips in and around town such as the Roman amphitheater and ruins at Itálica or the Fine Arts Museum, to day trips to nearby sites of interest like Córdoba or La Rábida. Students also participate in longer, multi-day excursions to places like Granada and Madrid as well. Staff at The Center coordinate and lead the excursions. Friends and family members who come to visit Texas Tech students at The Center are welcome to join us and participate in the excursions at cost.
