Global Scholar Certificate
Students who want to earn multicultural credit for a study abroad experience should register for the Global Scholar Certificate program in the semester prior to their study abroad experience. The program provides students with tips and techniques to prepare for their program; how to cope with challenges that may arise while they're abroad; how to make the most of their study abroad experience while they’re there; tips for dealing with issues that may arise after their return home; and advice on how they can grow personally and professionally as a result of their study abroad experience. The modules provide an opportunity for cross-cultural learning, making better sense of the experiences abroad, and further refining cross-cultural observation, adaptation, and communication skills.
The Global Scholar program was developed by Loyola Marymount University and funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education with input from students who have studied abroad, the staff who work with them in the U.S. and abroad, faculty who teach students abroad, and researchers in the field. Many of the topics dealt with are practical in nature, but theoretical and conceptual issues will also be explored. There are three separate modules designed to be of help to students, depending on what stage of the study abroad journey they are in. Students must complete all three modules to receive multicultural credit at Texas Tech. Learn more about the modules here:

Students who have completed the Global Scholar program may download the certificate from the Global Scholar website and bring it to their Study Abroad advisor along with the module materials. A faculty review committee will evaluate the Global Scholar materials submitted by students for multicultural credit. All materials must be submitted no later than the end of the semester after the student returns from studying abroad, following the timeline below:
