TechMail infrastructure upgrade - June 2012

In compliance with industry standards and to provide a higher level of security, reliability, and features, TTU will begin upgrading TTU mailboxes to the newest version of Microsoft Exchange, Exchange 2010, on June 19, 2012.

While all current TTU-supported email software will function normally with the new version of Exchange, Outlook 2010 for the PC and Outlook 2011 for the Mac will allow you to take advantage of the new features, and will function optimally. As such, we strongly recommend that you update your email software to one of these versions as soon as possible. The following platforms are compatible with Microsoft Exchange 2010:

  • Outlook 2010* (recommended for PC), 2007, and 2003
    • Available for purchase in the ATLC (west basement of the Library)
  • Windows Mobile 5.0, 6.0, 6.1, and 6.5
  • Windows Phone 7 and 7.5
  • Entourage 2008 (Web Services Edition only)
  • Outlook 2011 for Mac (recommended for Mac)
    • Free download available at

  • Apple iOS Devices
  • Android OS Devices
  • BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) Devices
  • Outlook Web App (

Please note that a few third-party mobile applications may need to be manually configured beginning June 19th.

We will be upgrading mailboxes through the end of July, from 10 PM to 6 AM Monday through Friday, and the full 24-hour period on Saturdays and Sundays. You will be able to access your mailbox at all times during these periods, except for an approximate 30-minute window when your mailbox is being moved to Exchange 2010. Unfortunately, the complexity of the upgrade process, coupled with the number of overall TTU mailboxes, does not allow us to give you a specific time that your mailbox is being migrated. However, we can assure you that none of your mail will be lost during the transition. Should you notice problems during one of the upgrade times noted above, simply close down your mail software, and wait thirty minutes before restarting your email software.
