Time to upgrade your Lync 2010 client software

As previously announced, the new Lync 2013 clients are currently available to upgrade from Lync 2010 to the Lync 2013 client. To help with this transition, on Wednesday, February 26, 2014, all current Lync 2010 clients will begin to receive a prompt in their notification area once a day (bottom right hand of your desktop), reminding them to upgrade to Lync 2013. After clicking the prompt, the Lync 2013 for Windows website will open. As a reminder, Lync 2010 clients will continue to work until April 16, 2014. Note that the prompt Microsoft provided says that, "the latest version of Microsoft Lync 2010 is available for download. Click here to get instructions for downloading it." We are unable to change this Microsoft message, but the link leads to the Microsoft Lync 2013 download with instructions that we have written.

Beginning April 17, the older Lync client will no longer work, and an upgrade will be required to access Lync. If you are using Lync 2011 for Mac or the Lync Attendant Console, no action is necessary at this time. Upgrades to those applications will be announced as they become available in the future.
