Configure Eudora 6.2 for IMAP/SMTP on Mac OS X
NOTE: If Texas Tech University is not your Internet Service Provider (ISP), you will need to setup a VPN connection to TTU in order to use TTU's SMTP servers to send e-mail. Please click here for instructions on setting up a VPN connection to TTU.
STEP 1: Open Eudora and click Eudora -> Preferences.

STEP 2: In the Getting Started category verify the following:
- User Name: eRaider@ttu.edu (e.g. jdoe@ttu.edu)
- Mail Server: mail.ttu.edu
- Real Name: Your First and Last Name
- SMTP Server: smtp.ttu.edu
- Email Address: Your TechMail Address (e.g. john.doe@ttu.edu)

STEP 3: Click the Checking Mail category, then verify the following:
- User Name: eRaider@ttu.edu (e.g. jdoe@ttu.edu)
- Mail Protocol: IMAP
STEP 4: Click the Sending Mail category, then verify the following:
- Email Address: Your TechMail Address (e.g. john.doe@ttu.edu)
- SMTP Server: smtp.ttu.edu
- Allow authorization: Checked

STEP 5: Click the Personalities category, then verify the following:
- Personality: <<Dominant>>
- Personality Name: <<Dominant>>
- User Name: eRaider@ttu.edu (e.g. jdoe@ttu.edu)
- Mail Server: mail.ttu.edu
- Real name: Your First and Last Name
- SMTP Server: smtp.ttu.edu
- Email Address: Your TechMail Address (e.g. john.doe@ttu.edu)

STEP 6: Click the SSL category, then verify the following:
- Personality: <<Dominant>>
- SSL for POP: Required (Alternate Port)
- SSL for SMTP: Optional (TLS)
- SSL for IMAP: Required (Alternate Port)
- Standard Port SSL Negotiation: TLS 1.0 (Cyrus)
- Alternate Port SSL Negotiation: Maximum Compatibility

STEP 6: Click OK.
Notice to Mac OS 10.5 (Leopard) Users: In order for Macintosh Eudora to work well under OS X 10.5.x 'Leopard', you need to turn off the use of specific sounds in Eudora. These are the sounds Eudora plays when you get new mail or Eudora needs your attention, or are played by Filters. The sounds that are problematic are the ones that contain 'Eudora' in their name as they were created using a sound synthesizer that Leopard does not support. To disable or change the sounds used in Eudora, do the following:
