Setting up SMTP Authentication for Eudora (for Windows)

IT Help Central - TTU SMTP Authentication

To Illustrated Instructions

NOTE:  SMTP authentication is supported in Eudora versions 4.3 and later. If you have an earlier version of Eudora, you must upgrade to version 4.3 (at least) in order to support SMTP authentication.

However, if you are already using Eudora for your POP email, you do not have to change any of the server names in order to support SMTP authentication.

Step 1:  Using the Eudora Tools menu, select Options... to open the Options window.  The Options window contains the settings related to SMTP authentication.

Step 2:  In the Sending Mail category of the Options window, check the box next to "Allow authentication".

Step 3:  You can verify that SMTP authentication is being implemented by checking the settings in the Getting Started category in the Options window.  The "Allow authentication" box should be checked.  Close the Options window by clicking the OK button.  After this step is completed, Eudora will then be setup to use SMTP authentication.
