Through the various networks, Texas Tech users are able to access information around the country and throughout the world (such as through the Internet). Being part of this network brings with it certain responsibilities for using this global communication.
Using Texas Tech Systems
For state universities, networks are owned by the State of Texas and administered by the Information Technology Divisions. Users must abide by the following list of standards that have been established.
- TTU computing resources are only for support of the educational mission of the Institution.
- They may not be used for personal commercial, financial, or partisan political purposes or computer network abuse.
- Anyone publishing a Web site on University resources should be in compliance with TTU and TTU Health Sciences Center Web standards and state and federal laws.
- Obscene material, as defined by State of Texas Penal Code Title 9, Chapter 43, Subchapter B, may not be intentionally viewed, retrieved, transmitted, distributed, printed, or saved on Texas Tech computers or transferred over its computing networks.
|
All Texas Tech computing systems are subject to periodic, unannounced security audits or investigations. A violation of any of these policies subjects the user to disciplinary procedures at Texas Tech and referral to the appropriate law enforcement or investigative agency outside Texas Tech. |
The use of the network is a privilege, not a right, and that right may be temporarily or even permanently revoked at any time for abusive conduct.
