Using ACS WebMail to clean up e-mail massages
ACS WebMail at http://webmail.acs.ttu.edu can help you keep your disk use to a
minimum. This service allows you to access your TTACS e-mail from a Web browser
using the IMAP protocol instead of POP3. WebMail also shows your disk space use.
With this WebMail application, you can check for e-mail that has been left on
the ACS e-mail server. This e-mail is being charged against your disk quota.
Your PC or Mac that uses a POP mailer cannot access or delete anything other
than new (unread) e-mail from the INBOX folder. WebMail has an advantage here;
it allows you to access and delete other folders you may not be aware of.
Once in WebMail, enter your eRaider (or PCA) username and password. Windows will
pop up, giving you access to your e-mail on the TTACS server. A pull-down list of your mail folders is available at the upper, left side. To delete a message you must do four things.
1. "Select" a folder using the pull-down (down arrow) near INBOX in the upper left corner.
2. "Select" the message or messages by checking the box(s) or click
"Select All". Note that "Select All" only selects all of the
messages on the *current* page for the *current* folder.
3. Click "Delete", which simply marks selected messages ready for
deletion.
4. Click "Empty Trash" to complete the deletion process and update the
disk usage percentage.
If you want to delete all the messages in a folder, it is easier to click the "FOLDER" section on the main screen and delete the whole folder. The "sent-mail" folder will automatically be recreated when you send e-mail using WebMail. It is still necessary to empty the "Trash" after deleting folders.
