For more than six decades [1892-1954] this immigrant station processed hundreds of
thousands of people into the United States. Travel back to the early 1900's and experience
what it was like to come to America as an immigrant.
The diverse geography found in Texas affected the settlement and development of indigenous
cultures. This program focuses on four tribes, their economies, traditions, and influence
on modern Texas. *Note: 7th Grade Only
Mapping the Cultures of the World- Asia:
These programs highlight a specific country within the continent of Asia. By using
our 10'x12' floor map, artifacts, stories, and engaging cultural activities students
are immersed in Asian culture. Choose from the featured country list below and then
indicate your choice on the registration form.
This program is designed as an introduction to a unit or region of the world. It will
cover the basics of geography and how it affects the way people live in the region.

SPECIAL PROGRAMS: THESE PROGRAMS ARE OFFERED IN MORNING AND AFTERNOON SESSIONS ON
A SPECIFIC DAY AT THE ICC. THIS ALLOWS US TO SERVE A LARGER NUMBER OF STUDENTS. RESERVATIONS
ARE MADE AT LEAST TWO WEEKS IN ADVANCE.

defended our country and all of the freedoms we enjoy.
December 5th, 6th
In collaboration with TTU's German Language Department, students will learn the cross-cultural
sharing of Christmas traditions and participate in a German style Christmas festival.
December 9th, 10th, 12th, 13th
♦Christmas and New Year Celebrations Around the World- This program highlights holiday traditions for various countries around the world.
Join us as we learn about Hanukkah, Tet in Vietnam, the Scandinavian traditions of
St. Lucia's Day, and the German tradition of Weihnachten.
